Iranian Interior Minister calls on Field Marshal Asim Munir at GHQ

RAWALPINDI, Tuesday, July 21, 2026 (WNP): Interior Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Eskandar Momeni, called on Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), HJ, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces of Pakistan, at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi, where the two sides held wide-ranging discussions on regional security and bilateral cooperation.

During the meeting, both leaders reviewed matters of mutual interest, the evolving regional security environment, bilateral security cooperation, and measures to enhance effective border management. They also exchanged views on strengthening coordination to address shared security challenges and promote stability along the Pakistan-Iran border.

The Iranian Interior Minister commended Pakistan’s consistent efforts and constructive diplomatic role in easing regional tensions, encouraging dialogue and de-escalation, and serving as a key anchor for regional peace and stability.

The meeting concluded with a reaffirmation of the shared resolve of Pakistan and Iran to maintain close coordination, strengthen cooperative mechanisms, and further deepen bilateral collaboration in support of regional security, peace, and mutual prosperity.

The high-level engagement reflects the enduring commitment of both neighbouring countries to expanding strategic cooperation and fostering a secure and stable regional environment through sustained dialogue and coordinated action.
