MWL Secy-Gen, CJP reaffirm commitment to justice, moderation, human dignity

ISLAMABAD, Thursday, July 9, 2026 (WNP): Secretary General of the Muslim World League (MWL), Sheikh Dr. Mohammad bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, on Thursday called on the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP), Justice Yahya Afridi at the Supreme Court, where both sides reaffirmed their shared commitment to advancing justice, moderation, the rule of law and human dignity through enhanced institutional cooperation.

Dr. Al-Issa was accompanied by a high-level delegation of the Muslim World League, Saudi Ambassador to Pakistan Nawaf bin Said Al-Malki, while senior officials from Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs also attended the meeting.

Welcoming the delegation, the Chief Justice commended the Muslim World League’s global efforts in promoting dialogue among civilizations, projecting the true values of Islam, combating extremism and Islamophobia, and advancing humanitarian initiatives across the Muslim world.

He also praised the visionary leadership of Dr. Al-Issa in strengthening international cooperation founded on mutual respect, peaceful coexistence and shared human values.

The Chief Justice briefed the delegation on the Supreme Court of Pakistan’s ongoing institutional reform agenda, highlighting measures aimed at improving access to justice, enhancing judicial transparency, expanding technology-driven court services and strengthening public confidence in the justice system.

He emphasized that an independent, efficient and people-centric judiciary remains essential for upholding the rule of law, protecting fundamental rights and promoting sustainable national development.

Underscoring the importance of international judicial cooperation, the Chief Justice said judicial institutions should continue engaging with global partners to exchange expertise and best practices in areas including mediation, judicial education, access to justice, court administration and the protection of constitutional and fundamental rights.

During the meeting, both sides explored opportunities to deepen institutional collaboration through professional exchanges, including possible exchange programmes for district judiciary officers and technical personnel to promote mutual learning, capacity building and the sharing of expertise in judicial administration and court management.

Dr. Al-Issa appreciated the reform initiatives undertaken by the Supreme Court of Pakistan and reaffirmed the Muslim World League’s commitment to promoting justice, moderation, tolerance, peaceful coexistence and humanitarian cooperation throughout the Muslim world.

The two sides also exchanged views on expanding collaboration to advance the shared values of justice, human dignity, social harmony and the rule of law through sustained institutional engagement.

The meeting concluded with both sides reaffirming their commitment to strengthening cooperation in support of an independent judiciary, effective justice delivery, the rule of law and the protection of human dignity.
