BAGHDAD, Sunday, June 28, 2026 (WNP): Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi visits the memorial site near Baghdad International Airport where former commander Gen. Qassem Soleimani and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis were killed in a U.S. drone strike in January 2020.

During his visit, Araghchi paid tribute to the two figures, reaffirming Iran’s commitment to preserving their legacy and honoring those it regards as “martyrs of the resistance.”
