ZURICH, Sunday, June 21, 2026 (WNP): Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif arrived in Zurich on Sunday along with a high-level Pakistani delegation to participate in the High-Level Talks on the implementation of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (Islamabad MoU), scheduled to be held in Bürgenstock, Switzerland, later in the day.

Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir will join the prime minister at the talks, which mark the next phase in advancing the implementation of the landmark agreement between the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The high-level discussions are being convened as a follow-up to the signing of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding and are expected to focus on practical mechanisms, technical arrangements and coordinated implementation of the agreement’s key provisions.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is leading a senior Pakistani delegation comprising government officials and relevant representatives to engage in consultations aimed at facilitating the effective execution of the memorandum and supporting the broader peace process.

The Islamabad MoU, electronically signed by United States President Donald J. Trump and Iranian President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian, was endorsed by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in his capacity as mediator.

The agreement, which entered into force immediately after its signing, is widely regarded as a significant diplomatic milestone designed to reduce regional tensions, restore maritime navigation, advance dialogue and lay the foundation for comprehensive negotiations on outstanding issues between the two countries.

The Bürgenstock talks are expected to reinforce the momentum generated by the agreement and contribute to lasting peace, regional stability and enhanced international cooperation through sustained diplomatic engagement.
