KIEV, Friday, May 8, 2026 (WNP): Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy visited the command post of the 20th Army Corps, where he met service members engaged in operations aimed at liberating the temporarily occupied territory of the Dnipro region.
During the visit, President Zelenskyy presented state awards to military personnel, including foreign volunteers fighting alongside Ukrainian forces in defense of the country.
Addressing the troops, the Ukrainian president discussed the operational situation along the line of defense and reviewed measures to strengthen frontline positions through additional funding for combat battalions, enhanced logistical supplies, and expanded drone capabilities.
He highlighted the growing effectiveness of Ukraine’s mid-range strike operations in recent months, emphasizing the importance of ensuring that Ukrainian forces are equipped with sufficient unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs) to conduct strikes deep into operational areas.
Zelenskyy said Ukraine would continue exploring further ways to support the military in enhancing its combat effectiveness and defensive capabilities.
Praising the courage and resilience of Ukrainian forces, the president thanked the soldiers for defending the country under difficult battlefield conditions.
“Thank you for your strength, resilience, and for defending our state,” he said.
