WASHINGTON, Friday, April 17, 2026 (WNP): US President Donald Trump has indicated he may visit Pakistan to finalize a potential agreement, while praising the country’s leadership and diplomatic role.
Responding to a question from a reporter about visiting Pakistan to seal a deal, President Trump said he would consider traveling to the country, noting that Islamabad could be the venue if an agreement is concluded.
“Pakistan has been great. They’ve been so good… Islamabad—I might go,” he said, adding that he would be open to visiting if the deal is signed there.
The US president also commended Pakistan’s leadership, appreciating the role of the country’s military and political leadership in ongoing diplomatic efforts.
Referring to Pakistan’s top military leadership, he said “the field marshal has been great,” while also describing Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif as “really great.”
Trump further remarked that he had received a positive response from Pakistan regarding a possible visit, saying, “They want me.”
The remarks come amid ongoing diplomatic engagements in the region, where Pakistan has been playing an active role in facilitating dialogue and promoting peace efforts.
