TEHRAN, Thursday, March 12, 2026 (WNP): Renowned Iranian filmmaker Majid Majidi has issued a strong message of solidarity with the people of Iran, saying the country is standing firm amid escalating tensions in the Middle East and calling on artists, intellectuals and free-thinking individuals around the world to speak out against human suffering and injustice.

In a statement released during the ongoing regional conflict, Majidi said Iran was resisting aggression by Israel and the hegemonic policies of the United States, framing the struggle as a broader defense of oppressed people across the world.

The filmmaker, known internationally for his humanistic cinema and socially conscious storytelling, said the current confrontation was not only taking place on military frontlines but also affecting the everyday lives of civilians.

“Today’s war is a battle between good and evil,” he said, adding that the front line includes not only battlefields but also ordinary homes, hospitals and schools where innocent civilians, particularly children, face the consequences of violence and instability.

Majidi said that despite the pressures and hardships brought about by the conflict, the Iranian people continue to demonstrate resilience and unity. He said the determination of the nation—from its leadership to ordinary citizens and even schoolchildren—reflects a broader narrative of resistance and dignity.

According to Majidi, global powers are attempting to reshape the political and economic landscape of the Middle East in pursuit of influence and control over the region’s resources. However, he said the determination of the Iranian people shows that national unity and resolve can stand against even the most powerful forces.

“History will testify that a nation, through determination, solidarity and unity, was able to resist immense global pressures,” he said.

The filmmaker also urged writers, artists, intellectuals and thinkers worldwide to raise their voices in defense of human dignity and justice.

“It is the responsibility of thinkers, free-spirited individuals, writers and artists not to remain silent in the face of human suffering,” Majidi said, stressing that art, thought and literature should be used to defend truth and humanity.

He expressed confidence that many people across different countries share sympathy with the Iranian people and stand in solidarity with them in their quest for dignity and justice.

Majidi concluded his message by calling for a global awakening of conscience, urging independent voices around the world to oppose injustice and uphold the universal values of human dignity and compassion.
