Uzbekistan, U.S. firms sign landmark agreements to boost economic cooperation

NEW YORK, Monday, September 22, 2025 (WNP): President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, during his visit to New York, convened a high-level roundtable with leading American companies, investment funds and financial institutions to expand economic and innovation partnerships between the two countries.

The meeting brought together prominent figures including U.S. Special Envoy for South and Central Asian Affairs Sergio Gor, Special Envoy for Global Partnerships Paolo Zampolli, U.S. Under Secretary of Commerce William Kimmitt, Chairperson of the American-Uzbekistan Chamber of Commerce Carolyn Lamm, as well as senior executives from Franklin Templeton, Citigroup, BNY Mellon, NASDAQ, Boeing, Mastercard, Visa, General Motors, Nvidia, Oppenheimer, Jefferies, Air Products, Traxys, FLSmidth, GoGreen Partners, Cleveland Clinic and Cargill, alongside major Uzbek companies.

Opening the discussion, President Mirziyoyev recalled his recent conversation with U.S. President Donald Trump, during which the two leaders agreed to expand bilateral economic cooperation and establish a long-term project portfolio.

He stressed that the roundtable was a key step toward advancing those commitments. Uzbekistan’s trade with the United States has quadrupled over the past eight years, while more than 300 American firms have invested in the country. Notably, a National Investment Fund has been launched jointly with Franklin Templeton.

Priority areas for future cooperation include critical minerals processing, sustainable supply chains, artificial intelligence, digitalization, IT, transport, energy and social infrastructure, smart agriculture, and advanced technologies.

American corporate leaders, acknowledging Uzbekistan’s business-friendly environment, expressed strong interest in expanding operations and participating in new projects across these sectors.

Following the discussions, a signing ceremony was held in the presence of President Mirziyoyev and U.S. Special Envoy Sergio Gor, formalizing a series of trade, economic and investment agreements. Key deals included: ong-term cooperation agreement between Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Transport and Boeing, joint venture agreement between Technopark LLC and FLSmidth, agreement between Akfa Group and Cleveland Clinic to establish a multidisciplinary clinic and educational institution, partnership agreement between Centrum Air and Oppenheimer, cooperation agreement between Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Economy and Finance and Citigroup, financial cooperation between Uzbekhydroenergo JSC and Cargill Financial Services International, partnership between Uztransgaz JSC and Pangea Filtration Technology, agreement between the Ministry of Mining Industry and Geology and Cove Capital, cooperation between Yangi Kon LLC and SLB, agreement between Uzbekistan’s Fund for Reconstruction and Development and Biologic International to establish financing for AI and biotechnology projects.

The agreements reflect growing confidence among U.S. businesses in Uzbekistan’s economic reforms and mark a new phase in bilateral trade and investment relations.
