ISLAMABAD, Friday, August 8, 2025 (WNP): The Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA) on Friday hosted a spellbinding evening of classical music, Shaam-e-Mauseeqi, to mark the nation’s 78th Independence Day in a vibrant tribute to Pakistan’s cultural heritage.

The event brought together some of the subcontinent’s finest classical vocalists, weaving a rich tapestry of melody and emotion that resonated deeply with the packed auditorium. With its blend of timeless compositions and literary grace, the evening evoked both nostalgia and patriotic pride.

Federal Minister for National Heritage and Culture, Aurangzeb Khan Khichi, graced the occasion as chief guest. Praising the performers’ dedication to preserving traditional music, he reaffirmed the government’s commitment to providing artists meaningful platforms to showcase their talent. “Our classical music is not just an art form—it is the heartbeat of our cultural identity,” he remarked.

PNCA Director General Ayub Jamali echoed the sentiment, highlighting the council’s efforts to revive classical arts and mentor emerging talent.

The night featured celebrated classical vocalists Roshan Abbas Khan, Ghulam Abbas Khan, and Nadeem Riaz Malik, whose masterful renditions and soulful delivery left the audience enthralled. “It was a soul-touching evening that reminded us of the depth and richness of our musical roots,” said Farzana Ahmed, a regular attendee of PNCA events. Another guest, Asim Raza, described the performances as “a rare experience that transported us to another world.”

Beyond its artistic brilliance, Shaam-e-Mauseeqi served as a reminder of the power of culture to unite, inspire, and instill pride—especially among the youth. By celebrating the nation’s Independence Day through the lens of its musical heritage, PNCA reaffirmed that Pakistan’s classical music remains a living treasure, capable of harmonizing hearts and strengthening the country’s cultural identity.
