PM Shehbaz visits GHQ, vows zero tolerance against militancy amid Pakistan–Afghanistan tensions

ISLAMABAD, Friday, February 27, 2026 (WNP): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday visited the General Headquarters (GHQ) where he was given a detailed briefing by the military leadership on the prevailing Pakistan–Afghanistan situation and related security challenges.

During the visit, the prime minister was apprised of developments along the western border, including concerns over militant activities and cross-border threats.

Emphasizing the government’s firm stance, Prime Minister Shehbaz said zero tolerance would be adopted against what he termed the nexus between “Fitna al-Khawarij” and the Afghan Taliban regime, warning that hostile actions against Pakistan were unacceptable.

He said that any collaboration aimed at destabilizing Pakistan would be dealt with decisively, reiterating the government’s resolve to safeguard national sovereignty and internal security.

The prime minister expressed full confidence in the leadership of Chief of Army Staff Asim Munir, stating that the armed forces, under his command, remained fully prepared to defend the country against all threats.

He added that the entire nation stood shoulder to shoulder with the armed forces in protecting the territorial integrity and security of the homeland.

The high-level meeting underscored civil-military coordination amid evolving regional dynamics, with authorities reaffirming their commitment to ensuring peace and stability across Pakistan.
