ISLAMABAD, Wednesday, April 23, 2025 (WNP): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday strongly condemned a terrorist attack targeting a polio vaccination team in Mastung, Balochistan, which resulted in the martyrdom of security personnel assigned to protect the health workers.
In a statement issued during his ongoing two-day official visit to Türkiye, the prime minister expressed deep sorrow over the loss of life, particularly the Levies personnel who were killed while performing their duty to safeguard public health efforts.
Offering prayers for the departed souls, the prime minister extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and prayed for their strength in the face of this tragedy.
“Those responsible for attacking innocent citizens and disrupting vital public health campaigns will be brought to justice,” he vowed. “Such cowardly acts will not deter the government’s resolve to eradicate polio from Pakistan.”
Reaffirming the government’s commitment to the nationwide anti-polio drive, Prime Minister Shehbaz urged parents not to lose hope and to ensure their children receive polio vaccinations.
“The anti-polio campaign will continue with full strength and determination, regardless of the challenges,” he said.
