PM Sharif arrives in Shusha to attend ECO summit

SHUSHA, Thursday, July 3, 2025 (WNP): Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif arrived in the historic city of Shusha, located in the Nagorno-Karabakh region of Azerbaijan, on Thursday for a two-day official visit to attend the summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO).

The Prime Minister and his delegation were warmly received at Fuzuli International Airport by Azerbaijan’s Minister of Culture Adil Karimli, Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Pakistan Khazar Farhadov, Pakistan’s Ambassador to Azerbaijan Qasim Mueenuddin, and other senior government and diplomatic officials.

Accompanying the Prime Minister are Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Fatemi.

During his visit, Prime Minister Sharif will address the ECO Summit in Khankendi, where he is expected to present Pakistan’s vision for deeper regional integration, focusing on enhanced trade, connectivity, and cooperation among member states.

On the sidelines of the summit, the prime minister will also engage in a series of high-level bilateral meetings with regional and international leaders, aimed at bolstering Pakistan’s diplomatic outreach and advancing economic partnerships across the ECO region.
