Pakistan-Türkiye Parliamentary Group meets Turkish envoy, reaffirms strategic partnership

ISLAMABAD, Wednesday, May 14, 2025 (WNP): A delegation of the Pakistan-Türkiye Parliamentary Friendship Group (PFG), led by Member of National Assembly Shaista Pervaiz Malik, on Wednesday met with Turkish Ambassador Dr. Irfan Neziroglu to reaffirm bilateral ties and express appreciation for Türkiye’s unwavering support during recent regional tensions at the Turkish Embassy.

The delegation included parliamentarians Rai Hassan Nawaz Khan, Mirza Ikhtiar Baig, Sharmila Faruqui, Farah Naz Akbar, and Nikhat Shakeel Khan.

During the meeting, the PFG conveyed Pakistan’s gratitude for Türkiye’s consistent support at international forums, particularly in the context of the country’s stance during recent strains with India. The group emphasized the historic and strategic nature of the Pakistan-Türkiye relationship, underscoring a mutual commitment to peace and regional stability.

Ms. Malik highlighted the critical role of inter-parliamentary dialogue in deepening bilateral cooperation. She reiterated the group’s resolve to enhance collaboration in sectors including education, culture, trade, and sports.

Both sides acknowledged shared values and a vision for a stable region, with the Turkish envoy reaffirming Türkiye’s continued engagement in fostering regional harmony. They agreed to maintain regular high-level parliamentary exchanges to strengthen the strategic partnership.

Concluding the meeting, PFG members expressed appreciation for Türkiye’s enduring friendship and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to further broadening cooperation between the two nations.
