ISLAMABAD, Monday, July 21, 2025 (WNP): The National Commission on the Status of Women (NCSW) on Monday strongly condemned a recent incident of so-called ‘honour’ killing reported from Balochistan, calling it a grave violation of human rights and a stark reminder of the violence women continue to face across the country.

NCSW Chairperson Ume Laila Azhar, along with members of the Commission’s Board, denounced the act as inhuman and unjustifiable under any circumstance.

“There is no honour in killing,” the Chairperson said, emphasizing that such acts of gender-based violence must be met with swift, strict, and uncompromising legal action.

The Commission has formally registered its protest by raising concerns with relevant authorities and demanded an immediate, transparent, and impartial investigation into the case to ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice without delay.

NCSW reiterated its firm commitment to protecting the rights, dignity, and safety of all women and girls in Pakistan, urging all stakeholders—including the government, civil society, and media—to vocally condemn such barbaric practices and work collectively to eliminate them.

“Justice delayed is justice denied,” the statement read, underscoring the need for systemic reforms and robust law enforcement to prevent further tragedies under the guise of ‘honour’.

The Commission reaffirmed its resolve to continue advocating for stronger protections, legal accountability, and societal change to ensure that women across Pakistan can live free from fear and violence.
