PESHAWAR, Saturday, June 21, 2025 (WNP): Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi on Saturday night conferred special awards on four senior journalists in recognition of their responsible and balanced reporting during the recent Pakistan-India conflict, codenamed Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos besides others.

Those honoured at the prestigious ceremony held at the Governor House, Peshawar, included Hanif Qamar, Director News at SACH TV; Abdul Qayyum, Director News at GTV; Khawaja Matin, senior anchorperson at GTV; and Rehan Khan, Director Diplomatic and Global Affairs at the state-run Associated Press of Pakistan (APP).

Governor Kundi commended the recipients for upholding journalistic integrity and national responsibility during a period of high tension and uncertainty. “Their work reflected a deep commitment to truth, balance, and professionalism—qualities vital for any media outlet, especially during national crises,” he noted.

He added that the awardees set an example by resisting sensationalism and instead chose to report verified facts and ground realities, not only informing citizens across Pakistan but also projecting the country’s narrative globally with credibility.

Speaking to media after receiving the awards, the journalists reaffirmed their dedication to the principles of ethical journalism. They vowed to continue fulfilling their professional duties with integrity, objectivity, and a sense of national responsibility.

“Our mission remains to serve the public through truth and clarity,” said Rehan Khan, emphasizing the importance of diplomatic accuracy in international reporting. “In times of conflict, the media must act not as a provocateur but as a pillar of stability and fact.”

The event was attended by senior government officials, media executives, and representatives from civil society, underscoring the growing recognition of journalism’s critical role in national security, public awareness, and international perception.
