RAWALPINDI, Monday, May 05, 2025 (WNP): Pakistani security forces killed eight terrorists during a series of intelligence-based operations (IBOs) in different districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, while one soldier embraced martyrdom, the military’s media wing said on Monday.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the operations were conducted in North and South Waziristan, Bannu, and Khyber districts, targeting militants affiliated with the Khawarij terrorist network.
In the Mir Ali area of North Waziristan, troops launched an IBO and engaged militants, killing three terrorists on the spot. In a separate operation in South Waziristan, two more militants were neutralized. During the intense exchange of fire, 40-year-old Naik Mujahid Khan from Kohat fought bravely and was martyred.
Two additional engagements took place in Khyber and Bannu, resulting in the killing of three more terrorists. Weapons, ammunition, and explosives were recovered from the deceased militants, who the ISPR said were involved in attacks on security personnel and the targeted killing of civilians.
“Sanitization operations are ongoing to eliminate any remaining terrorists in the area,” the ISPR stated. “The Pakistan Army remains resolute in eradicating the scourge of terrorism, and the sacrifices of our brave soldiers only strengthen our resolve.”
President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif commended the security forces for their swift and successful operations. In separate messages, both leaders praised the troops for eliminating eight terrorists and paid tribute to the fallen soldier, Naik Mujahid Khan.
“The entire nation salutes Shaheed Mujahid Khan,” the president and the prime minister said, praying for his elevation in Jannah and strength for his grieving family.
They reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to fighting terrorism until its complete eradication from the country.
