COAS Munir visits flood-hit Punjab, assures continued relief, rehabilitation support

ISLAMABAD, Saturday, September 13, 2025 (WNP): Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir on Saturday visited flood-affected areas of Kasur and Multan to review the ongoing rescue and relief efforts and reaffirmed the Pakistan Army’s commitment to supporting the affected communities.

During his visit to Kasur Sector and the Flood Relief Camp in Jalalpur Pirwala, Multan, the Army Chief emphasized closer civil-military coordination to ensure effective assistance for displaced families. Chief Secretary Punjab and senior civil administration officials accompanied him during the visit.

COAS was briefed on the ground situation and measures being taken to safeguard lives and property. He underscored the need for good governance, people-centric policies, and expedited infrastructural development to protect vulnerable populations from recurring floods. “The state cannot afford the loss of precious lives and property every year,” he remarked.

Interacting with flood affectees who were evacuated by the Pakistan Army and civil administration, the Army Chief assured them of continued support in their resettlement and rehabilitation. The affectees expressed deep gratitude for the timely assistance provided by the Army at a critical juncture.

COAS also met troops, Rescue 1122 personnel, and police officials engaged in relief operations, lauding their dedication and round-the-clock efforts under extremely challenging circumstances. He praised their close coordination with civil authorities in providing timely relief to affected families.

Later, the Army Chief carried out an aerial reconnaissance of flood-hit areas along the Lahore-Kasur and Multan-Jalalpur Pirwala axes to assess the scale of damage and progress of ongoing operations.

Upon arrival, Field Marshal Munir was received by the Corps Commanders of Lahore and Multan.
